Silicagel absorbs moisture from enclosed spaces to prevent damage caused by corrosion and mould growth. Silicagel is high capacity desiccant. It has the capacity of physical absorption of water vapour into its internal pores. It will not create any chemical reaction to the products.
How much to use it?
It depends upon the application. For a well sealed item, a rule of thumb is, five gram of silica gel is needed for every cubic feet of volume of package. This converts 170 grams per cubic meter.
